Wickloe House Remodel
This project was mainly for a kitchen remodel in a traditional split-level house. The upper floor was also opened, so there were no walls between the kitchen, dining room, and living room. This was achieved by replacing the load bearing wall with a 20-ft long LVL beam and supporting structures down to the foundation.
The next phase was updating the flooring with hickory hardwood throughout the entire house. All original doors, baseboards, and walls were replaced with wood.
The final phase was the kitchen remodel. The kitchen was fully redone and a large island was added in the area where the walls previously intersected. A new gas line was installed for the gas cooktop in the island.
Falcon House Remodel
This project was to finish a whole house remodel after the previous contractor did not finish. The house had been left without heating over the winter, so specific parts of the work had to be demolished to replaced piping that had frozen and busted.
A new asphalt roof and vinyl siding was installed on the exterior. Along with replacing all the broken railings and stairs on the front of the house. A 200-sqft deck was added to the back of the house.
The interior required drywall to be finished along with painting. In the kitchen, the cabinets and fixtures were installed, as well as tiling. The upstairs bathroom had to had the tile ripped out and replaced due to leaks in the walls.
The basement was not finished, but had a sump system installed for finishing. All the drywall in the basement was wet and was ripped out and replaced. A utility room and basement bathroom were added that included a steam spa.
Hillsdale House Remodel
This project was a full house remodel. The goal of the project was to upgrade the utility of the house while preserving the early 20th century Craftsman charm. The first major phase was turning the existing bathroom into a master bathroom and then turning a small office on the second floor into another bathroom with washer/dryer. The electrical and plumbing to the entire second floor was replaced during this phase. Insulation was also added to the walls and attic. Structural upgrades were made to the floor joists in the second bathroom to support the additional plumbing.
The second major phase was restoring the wood throughout the house. In this phase, a closet was added to the master bedroom, the stairs and first floor floors were refinished, and a covered chimney was exposed and restored. During this phase some additional upgrades were made to the electrical, plumbing, and insulation when exposed.
At project close, all knob-and-tube wiring had been removed, all aging cast iron had been replaced, and every surface had been refinished to enhance its original beauty.
